waxing lyrical

Turns of phrase that caught my ear:
  • “Harbour of my soul” – The Waterboys
  • “Who’s gonna love you when your looks are gone?” – Paul Simon
  • “Love’s on your list of things to do” – Sheryl Crow
  • “It’s not having what you want, it’s wanting what you’ve got” Sheryl Crow
  • “No one said it would be easy, no one said it’d be this hard” Sheryl Crow
  • “The fingerprints on me from you” Suzanne Vega
  • “If I hadn’t seen such riches, I could live with being poor” James
  • “When will I ever learn to live in God, when will I ever learn?” Van Morrison
  • “Didn’t I come to bring you a sense of wonder?” Van Morrison

Reading

  • “God’s New Community”, Graham Beynon
  • “Discovering Galatians”, Simon Jones
  • “The Bible and Other Faiths”, Ida Glaser
  • “Making Children Mind Without Losing Yours”, Kevin Leman

To Read

  • “Held”, Angie Nicol
  • “Revolution of Character”, Dallas Willard & Don Simpson
  • “Shining Like Stars”, Lindsay Brown

Read

Films I recorded on VHS (remember those?) and then threw out in the belief that some day I’d be able to download them or watch them on demand or something:

  • Dead Poets’ Society
  • The Big Sleep
  • Casablanca
  • Much Ado about Nothing
  • Cyrano de Bergerac
  • Hamlet
  • The Mission
  • Waking Ned
  • Hi Fidelity
  • Meet Joe Black
  • Billy Elliott
